Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion

is a highly effective procedure for treating lumbar spine conditions like disc degeneration, herniation, and instability. Through a minimally invasive approach, the damaged disc is removed and replaced with an implant to stabilize the spine. ALIF helps reduce pain, restore mobility, and promote a faster recovery, allowing patients to return to their active lives.

Patient Feedback

Words from Our Patients

I will forever be grateful for the care I received. No one ever really wants to have surgery on their spine, but Dr. Paziuk’s approach to my care proved his dedication to his craft. We live in an era where patients want quick results and are unhappy when there isn’t a quick fix. Dr. Pazuik did an amazing job of explaining the steps of what my health journey would be like and proved that he was there for every step to explain what was going on, answer questions, check in, and give support (nerves are very petty when they feel they are being messed with). It is clear that Dr. Pazuik truly cares and is invested in making the lives of his patients better. I am finally back to almost normal and even the people around me notice and are grateful for his surgical skills.

I was in great pain for some weeks prior to my first visit with Doctor Paziuk, I found him to be compassionate and caring and professional. My surgery went well and I am thankful for Doctor Paziuk and his team for the awesome care given to me. Today is 14 days since my procedure, Thank you for giving me back my life I'm 100% pain free.

I had my back surgery in November of 2024, two months later I'm writing this because the only discomfort I have are from trying to get stronger. The morning after surgery PT people are having me walking around the hospital doing a few steps ( to my amazement). I've had both my hips replaced and though this is different, considering what was done to me my movements recovery has been amazingly quick.I have a 2 inch incision on my left side (not really much pain from that). Most all of my post-op pain or discomfort has been my left leg, groin, and low back.Dr. Davies and his staff have been great!!! I feel blessed that I was able to have him work on me. I would NOT hesitate to have him do surgery on me again (or my family or friends).I have all the confidence in him and his abilities.

A few weeks ago I had my second spinal surgery performed by Dr Matthew Davies. This one was lower lumbar and the first surgery was 2 levels cervical spine done a few years ago. I WILL NOT go to any other spinal Doctor ever again! I’ve been to 3 others in the Duluth area and none were as straightforward at Dr Davies. One spinal doctor from Orthopaedic Associates (shortly before Dr Davies arrived) told me I didn’t need surgery and that my arm pain and headaches were not caused by my neck. He told me I didn’t need surgery. A year after that I saw Dr Davies and he told me if he had seen that MRI he would have said I needed surgery back then! The disc was pushing on my spinal cord. I had 2 discs replaced and Violá the arm pain and most of the headaches disappeared. The other spinal doctors I’d seen were very passive about my needs and just pushed me off on physical therapistsDr Davies is kind, caring, and it’s obvious he cares about you as a patient. He is a brilliant surgeon! THANK YOU so much Dr Davies!!
